What an amazing honor! Free burritos for a month! 🙂
Here’s a tray of my favorite grocery store susie! Spicy California roll from Ralph’s. I appreciate the faux grass decoration but it didn’t make anything taste better. This store has an amazing fresh food area with foodstuffs that would appeal to any taste.
The weathers starting to warm up here in SoCal so that means one more batch of outstanding chicken & dumplins. Lady FoodObs does an excellent job on her scratch dumplins! I’m not gonna sugarcoat it – this is such a family favorite I’m sure we’ll be making during the summer months as well.
Sometimes I’ll order taco shop food at a sit down Mexican restaurant. More often than not I’m reminded that it’s actually better at a taco shop! Rolled tacos were fair at Mariscos Mar de Cortez, but I’ve had much better there which I’ll stick with next time. At least the bed of lettuce was a classy touch.
As of late I’ve been having a love/hate relationship with the pizza at Par Lounge/Oaks Grille. This was probably the last decent order we’ve had. Making me think that smaller is better, less diluted. I had a large pie recently that was just terrible. About half the cheese and toppings it should have had. Here’s a take out order of small combo (sausage and pepperoni) and a blanco (white sauce, prosciutto, etc) for Lady FoodObs.
Here in SoCal we are blessed with an amazing array of ethnic eateries. Sometimes I like to get Filipino food. Here’s a great place for lunch specials. Can’t go wrong with a big plate of pancit and some meat thing grilled on a stick. Just had to add an order of crispy lumpia to round it all out!
One of my new favorite sammich shops is Which Wich. I just love the fact that I can go in, place a complicated order and never have to speak a word! They have a unique ordering system whereby you mark up bags with sharpies according to your exacting specifications. Here’s a great Italian Grinder made with Genoa salami, pepperoni, capicola, etc.
Here’s a new dish at OG called “Sausage Stuffed Giant Rigatoni”. Large pasta filled with flavorful Italian sausage and topped with homemade meat sauce and fresh melted mozzarella. I’d consider the execution on this dish fairly poor. I likely wouldn’t order it again. It was fairly tasty, but just not tight enough for me. I don’t know how else to explain it. What I can tell you is the Zuppa Toscana is going down hill big league! It used to actually come out looking good, now it’s just a haphazard mess. I’m hoping OG can turn things around because they have something good to offer.
