Cracker Barrel

Some of my favorite things at Cracker Barrel! On a recent overnight trip to Yuma, AZ we were able to enjoy both dinner and breakfast at one of the best restaurants in America. Here’s an outstanding meatloaf dinner plate with three sides. I always get the fried okra, hashbrown casserole and my favorite vegetable, macaroni & cheese.

Next day was the Old Timer’s Breakfast. B&G with eggs, HBC, smoked sausage patties and hot grits! I didn’t have to eat for about two weeks after this trip…

Marinade on Main

Shrimp & Grits at Marinade on Main!  First time I had this dish here it was perfection!  This time the grits were too tight and dense but still tasty.  I just love how this amazing dish is now accessible here in our small town.  Love this restaurant!

Way Point Saloon

Surprisingly good clam chowder at Way Point Saloon! Loved the crispy, crumbled bacon on top. Very thick, hearty and lots of tender clams.

Ramona Lisa Pizza

Recently I had an outstanding stromboli from Ramona Lisa Pizza. It was markedly better than previous versions I’ve had under prior ownership. Made with pepperoni, ham, salami, bell pepper, mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce for only $10.99.

Roughly the size of a small throw pillow, it’s the perfect sized meal for two. There did appear to be some unfortunate moisture weepage at the base, so be sure to elevate the stromboli to prevent a soggy bottom. Oddly, the side sauce was stone cold, but it was just as well. The sauce cooked inside was the perfect amount without any extra side.

Overall an excellent pizzeria comfort food that I would order again in a heartbeat.

Outback Steakhouse

Some of my favorite sides at Outback!  These onion petals are a lot more uniform and easier to eat than a big bloomin’ onion.  The Steakhouse Mac & Cheese is tasty when prepared properly and it comes out hot.  Clam chowder here is always outstanding.

Phil’s BBQ

Outstanding BBQ chicken & ribs at Phil’s BBQ!  I always order them sauce on the side, or “SOS” as they say at Phil’s.  Doing so keeps me from having to take two showers when I get home.  You can also find the absolute best mac salad in SoCal here!  I could just eat a big ol’ plate of that!

Love Boat Sushi

Outstanding spicy shrimp roll and excellent crispy gyoza at Love Boat Susie!

I can always count on Rubio’s for the quintessential fish taco!

Homemade Carne Asada

Outstanding carne asada from Stater Bros in Ramona!  Their flap meat is consistently excellent.

The Par Lounge

Outstanding Pastrami Burger at The Par Lounge.  Not normally on their menu but a special item during this recent visit.  Always in the top tier of burgers in Ramona.
