Ramona Lisa Pizza

Quick one tonight! Outstanding stromboli from Ramona Lisa Pizza for dinner. One of the best things on the menu! Made with pepperoni, ham, salami, bell pepper, mozzarella and marinara. Only $10.99. Great job as always from the gang there!

Buca di Beppo

This is a fun place to eat, but not on any regular basis. Buca di Beppo serves food family style, so it helps if everyone likes or tolerates the same thing. Here’s a stunning display of some excellent Italian comfort food goodness. They really take the tacky decor to a whole new level here, even in the restrooms.

A SoCal institution for generations! Outstanding spaghetti with Italian sausage and meatball at Pernicano’s in El Cajon.

Nuevo Grill & Cantina

I’m pleased to report that the A/C was crankin’ at Nuevo Girl! Super comfortable and relaxing after working all day. I ordered my favorite dish, the steak enchiladas. Two huge, fresh corn tortillas stuffed with grilled carne asada steak and cheese, smothered in their scratch made enchilada sauce. Served with rice & beans, $13.99.

Biggest and best enchiladas in town, that I can tell you! I love how the plate comes out as hot as an acetylene torch. The melted cheese gets all crispy on the edges and melts into the rice, etc. Service was absolutely remarkable! Fortunately they offer a smaller version of this with only one enchilada. Not sure what I was thinking, but I have to lay down now…

Jack in the Box

Miguel’s Cocina

Outstanding Enchiladas Rancheras at Miguel’s in 4S Ranch! House-made spicy ground beef with onions & cheese, blanketed with a rich and flavorful tomato ranchero sauce, avocado & crema.

Marinade on Main

Outstanding dinner at Marinade on Main recently! Probably one of the finest, most satisfying and skillfully constructed dishes I’ve had in Ramona. “Marinades Alfredo Pasta”, $17. Prepared with their housemade cream sauce, topped with fried chicken and a prosciutto/arugula salad. You can sub shrimp for $4 more.

They used a linguine pasta that was cooked to a perfect al dente. Cream sauce was excellent. If you like garlic, you’ll love their version. Not overly salty or overly heavy and rich, it was just right. Chicken was a boneless breast, perfectly crispy and expertly fried. The coating unfortunately did not remain very well adhered. The large breast became somewhat unwieldly on the plate, I might try the shrimp version next time.

The prosciutto and arugula adornment totally elevated this dish to the next level. Highly recommended.

Sombrero Mexican Food

My favorite place for “San Diego-Style” Mexican food is always Sombrero. For decades! Here are some of my absolute favorite Taco Tuesday selections. Fish taco and calamari taco. Made very simply with shredded cabbage, pico de gallo, chipotle crema and lime.
