The Oaks Grille

(Visited November 2, 2019) Outstanding Denver Omelette for champagne brunch at The Oaks Grille in Ramona, CA!

Blanco Tacos & Tequila

(Visited November 1, 2019) Located in Fashion Valley mall, Blanco Tacos & Tequila is more than a typical Mexican restaurant. It is an extraordinary Mexican restaurant that puts a fresh twist on Mexican food favorites. As the name implies, they specialize in tacos and tequila. Here’s an outstanding Chicken Pastor Taco. The “Warm Queso” was decent, but I would have preferred it hotter. This place is not inexpensive although it’s super fun to visit with excellent service. Highly recommended when everything opens back up.

Tony Pepperoni Pizzeria

(Visited October 31, 2019) Outstanding “Meat Eaters” pizza at Tony Pepperoni in Rancho Bernardo! Topped liberally with pepperoni, Italian sausage, ground beef, Canadian bacon, etc. I cannot wait to have another one of these delicious pies.

Los Rancheros

Incredibly average order of rolled tacos at Los Rancheros in Ramona. Worse than the last time I had them here. Sadly it seems as if they’re going down hill. Tasted mostly like tortilla tubes with a sparse amount of shredded beef inside. Wasn’t even hot and I only had to walk about 10 steps from the counter to my table. (Visited October 2019)

Chili’s Grill & Bar

(Visited October 2019) One of my new favorite things to order at Chili’s is, well, their chili! The recipe seems to be a traditional, Texas style beanless chili with ground beef and familiar spices. Topped with crunchy tortilla strips and shredded cheese. I could eat this everyday.

Chick-fil-A

(Visited October 2019) As many of you know, mac & cheese is my favorite vegetable! When CFA came out with their homespun version I was all over it. I’ve tried many fast food varieties of this comfort food classic and they all pale in comparison. CFA mac is legit, that I can tell you! Their drive-thrus should be open right now during these trying times. Highly recommended.

Red Lobster

Well, this is certainly an awkward time for a food critic & blogger! As some of you know, what I post was actually eaten roughly six months ago. I’m that far behind. I don’t want anyone to be under the impression that restaurants are open in SoCal, because they’re not. With that said, I’ll start including visit dates. I’m not a big fan of “take-out” but I do plan to explore some of those options, while they last.

Bar Harbor Lobster Bake at Red Lobster in Mira Mesa, October 2019. This was definitely among the best dishes I’ve ordered at RL over the years. It’s one of their seasonal things that’s not always on the menu. Some sort of garlic linguine pasta mounded with an assortment of seafood including a split, grilled lobster tail, mussels, shrimp, scallops, etc. Excellent dish although their scallops were fairly petite.

The Butcher Shop

Excellent prime rib of beef at The Butcher Shop in San Diego! If you’ve never been, this is an old school, legit, classic Chicago-style steakhouse. The ambiance here is elegant, dark, intimate, etc. Rich dark wood paneling, red leather booths, gleaming brass appointments, beautifully etched glass panels and a cozy fireplace make this restaurant a must visit!

The Par Lounge

Outstanding fish & chips at The Par Lounge in Ramona!

Outback Steakhouse

One of the last decent meals I’ve had at OB. A plate of chicken wings. 😐
