Excellent Wisconsin Fried Cheese Curds at YH in Mission Valley! Also had a very tasty sammich & salad lunch special. Always an impressive selection of fine draft beers here.
Went out on a limb and tried the “stuffed crust” pizza from our Ramona Little Caesar’s! I have to say it was surprisingly good. Probably because it was cooked to order and not sitting in their so-called “hot & ready” queue. I typically say that you can never have too much cheese. In this case, it did get somewhat tiring in the crust region. Will stick with traditional style pizza next time.
While in Pawhuska we stayed at The Boarding House. This is an eight-room “cowboy luxury” hotel just a few doors down from the Merc. The suites are absolutely stunning, each having their own identity and personality. This beautiful cheeseboard thing was part of their evening reception (hospitality hour) for guests. Plus complimentary wine, etc. Everything about this place is top shelf! From the service, the coffee & pastry delivery every morning, to the exquisitely appointed rooms.
Outstanding lasagna at Marechiaro’s on Olde Highway 80! Layers of fresh, homemade pasta sheets enveloping Italian sausage, beef, ricotta, mozzarella and Romano cheeses, then baked to perfection.
We made another outstanding homemade Detroit Pizza! This time in lieu of red sauce, I made a white, creamy Parmesan/garlic sauce. Then topped with chunks of grilled chicken, crispy bacon and a pound of cheese!
Outstanding Beer Cheese Fries at Urge Gastropub in Rancho Bernardo! Founded in 2010, Urge is the American reinterpretation of the traditional English pub. One of my favorite restaurants in RB.
Outstanding sopes are now on the menu at Mi Ranchito in Ramona, CA! A sope is a traditional Mexican dish originating in the central and southern parts of Mexico. The base is made from a circle of fried masa, roughly the size of an ashtray, that looks like an unusually thick tortilla. It’s topped with a variety of ingredients, typically beans, a protein, lettuce, salsa, cheese, crema, etc.
