El Taco Loco Shop

Quite possibly the best order of rolled tacos in Ramona, CA! At El Taco Loco Shop inside Ramona Market. Their guacamole substance is somewhat loose in consistency, but I appreciate that they cover just about every square millimeter of my taquitos.

Don Gus Fine Mexican & Seafood

Outstanding Chile Colorado wet burrito at Don Gus in Lancaster, CA! I’ve always loved Chile Colorado as a stand-alone dish, but enveloped in burrito form is just something special. Served “wet” just transcends it to a new level. I of course was shocked and appalled to see beans served with my chips & salsa. Even if they were smooth. Made for a nice photo but that’s where I left it. Salsa was rather bland but overall a great meal and experience.

I think the most trippy part was that the front of this Lancaster restaurant is a dead ringer for our Boll Weevil in Ramona.

Mariscos Mar Azul

This is NOT an April Fool’s joke! Yes, I ate seafood in Yuma and it was outstanding! Mariscos Mar Azul is one of my new favorite restaurants in Arizona’s southwest region. The place is kind of trippy. The instant I walked in I could tell immediately it used to be a Chinese restaurant. Why waste time redecorating when you should be focused on cranking out excellent Mexican seafood dishes, right? Never experienced a place like this in SoCal. Anyway, this garlic shrimp dish was just delicious. Served with a side of rice and salad. Can’t wait to go back next time I’m rolling though AZ.

Mi Sonora Querida Foodtruck

Recently tried the Mi Sonora Querida Foodtruck! Without a doubt, the best Mexican food I’ve had in Ramona. That, I can tell you. The food here is predominantly mariscos (seafood) style. There’s a nice selection of tacos, tostadas, soups, seafood cocktails, quesadillas and burritos. I’ll post a photo of their menu in the comments.

I ordered a camaron (shrimp) taco and a marlin taco. Both were outstanding! Authentic flavors, ingredients and cooking methods were certainly evident here. Everything was fresh tasting and affordable. This food truck is legit! Don’t hesitate to give it a shot sometime. Located at 1252 Main Street in the Sambas Liquor parking lot. Open Wednesday – Sunday, 11am-9pm.
