Best panang curry lunch special in SoCal at Pailin Thai Cafe! Asian comfort food at its finest.
Pinto Thai for lunch recently! After enjoying their Pad Thai for some time, I’ve been meaning to get in and try one of their curry lunch specials. I chose my favorite, “Panang Curry”. It’s made with coconut milk, green bean, bell pepper, sweet basil and your choice of protein, only $7.99. (They also have green/red/yellow curry.)
I ordered mine with chicken and it was outstanding. This dish was chock-full of tender, succulent white-meat chicken. Curry broth was rich, flavorful and savory. So good I finished it with a spoon! One of the best curries I’ve had anywhere!
Lunch specials are served with vegetarian soup of the day, house salad, rice, Thai vegetarian egg roll and fried wonton.
Weekday lunch specials at any Thai restaurant are a wonderful thing and this place is no exception!
After the terrible pad thai at Lemongrass, I promised to go back and try a curry dish – I’m glad I did! I got the Lunch Special Yellow Curry (with chicken) for only $6.95. There’s a fair amount of chicken in a rich, flavorful and savory coconut milk broth with yellow curry paste, onions, carrots and potatoes. There was a lot more chicken than potatoes which I appreciated! Served with a side of rice and soup to start. Did not care for today’s soup though. Some sort of bland egg drop loaded with a ton of corn! At least it came out hot… This was a really good curry dish that I would come back and order again.
This is a small hole-in-the-wall Thai eatery nestled in a run down strip mall in Escondido. This place underscores the fact that you should never judge a book by its cover. Such a wonderful hidden gem in an otherwise sketchy neighborhood. Here’s some great crab wontons and an outstanding Panang curry lunch special.
My favorite lunch special Panang Curry! I like how Pailin serves this all on one dish. Typically the curry lunch specials are segregated into distinct dishes roughly the size of a large ashtray. Eating here saves the headache of coalescing everything on the plate.
