Excellent hotcakes at Denny’s in Ramona! I just love the supple, porous texture that just soaks up that soft, melted butter like a sponge.
“The Super Bird” is an excellent hot sandwich at Denny’s! Sliced turkey breast with bacon, Swiss cheese and maters on grilled sourdough. It’s always hard for me to decide between this and my beloved “Moons Over My-Hammy”.
Despite the rather shambolic egg presentation, this dish at Denny’s was surprisingly good! The “Santa Fe Sizzlin’ Skillet” is made with chorizo sausage, fire-roasted bell peppers & onions, mushrooms (omitted) and seasoned red-skinned taters. Topped with shredded cheddar cheese and eggs. Highly recommended.
As many people have noticed recently, our Ramona Denny’s has really turned things around! Could not have been more evident on our last visit! We enjoyed a wonderful dinner experience here and will certainly be back soon. I was astonished at not only the level of attentive service, but how quickly everything came out! I remember back in the day being the only one in the restaurant and waiting literally 30 minutes for a simple breakfast to come out. And I’m not exaggerating on either account.
I tried one of their new burger specials, the “Southwest Chorizo Burger”. Beef burger blended with chorizo sausage and topped with cheddar cheese, bacon, pepper jack queso and some sort of five pepper sauce. Served with lettuce, mater, red onions and pickles on a cheddar bun, with fries. Only $11.19. The burger was outstanding with a distinct smoky and spicy chorizo flavor. As hearty as that bun was though, it succumbed to the hot & juicy patty and moist burger-set. After a few bites it all turned into a hot mess, but it was delicious. Highly recommended.
Ramona Denny’s for breakfast recently. They have this new “value menu” with a myriad of breakfast/lunch/dinner selections for $2/4/6/8. I had the Biscuit & Gravy Breakfast ($4), served with two eggs & hash browns.Turned out very mediocre, although a decent value for $4 I have to say. Gravy was bright white, dotted with nodules of sausage, and very institutional tasting. Fairly bland and a pretty thin consistency. Biscuit was fine. Kind of on the lighter side, almost spongy. At least it didn’t turn into a gut bomb. Scrambled eggs were poorly prepared, overcooked and rubbery in spots. Hash browns were pretty good although somewhat greasy and could have been crispier for my taste.
I will say the food came out quickly! There was only one gal working the dining room at the time and she did an outstanding job.
