My new favorite Mexican restaurant in Esco is definitely Mi Guad! This is a dish I order frequently at Mexican restaurants that includes a carne asada steak and cheese enchilada. This one at Mi Guad is called “Carne Asada Guadalajara” on their menu. It’s definitely among the most beautiful and best tasting I’ve had.

On the Border

One of my favorite things to order at OTB is their “Classic Burrito”! It’s filled with seasoned ground beef, pico de gallo and cheese, all Tex-Mex style. The whole thing is rolled up like a pillow in a flour tortilla then smothered with OTB’s delicious red chile sauce.

Rock n’ Jenny’s Italian Subs

An Escondido institution since 1989, Rock n’ Jenny’s is one of my new favorite sandwich shops! They specialize in east coast style Italian grinders on warm, crusty Italian rolls with homemade Italian dressing and delicious pepperoncinis. I ordered one of their signature subs called “Ultimate Mafia Marriage”. Made with mortadella, salami, pepperoni, capicola & provolone. It was truly outstanding! Can’t wait to go back and try something new.

On the Border

Mi Guadalajara

One of my new favorite restaurants in Escondido is Mi Guadalajara on W 2nd Ave! I had a tasty enchilada and tamale combination plate. Service and atmosphere was excellent. Lady Food Obs had this great looking carne asada plate. Obviously not mine considering there’s beans.

Black Angus

Outstanding New York strip steak at Black Angus in Esco! Plus two of my favorite sides there, onion rings and au gratin taters. The blue cheese wedge salad to start just kicks it all off perfectly.

In-N-Out

A SoCal institution that never disappoints! The venerable Double Double is consistently excellent!

On the Border

I’m not sure if it’s still on their menu, but this brisket quesadilla is one of the best things I’ve put in my mouth at On the Border!
