The Frying Pan

Last morning here; on the way to the airport. I stopped at a place simply called Frying Pan Restaurant. This was a quintessential dive in the middle-of-nowhere Southern Maryland. I could tell when pulling into the parking lot that I would enjoy. Had an excellent 2 egg breakfast that sat in my system very well for the flight back to SoCal.

The Lighthouse Restaurant & Dock Bar

Lobster Mac & Cheese “special” at The Lighthouse Restaurant in Solomons. Looks like an impressive, abundant amount and it was! Unfortunately the lobster tasted either overcooked or old. Could have been both.! The mac itself was good. I’ll probably order something else next time, if I ever go back.

Island Hideaway

Outstanding Seafood Cannelloni at Island Hideaway in beautiful Solomons Island, MD! As soon as I saw this on their menu I knew I had to try it. A house-made pasta crepe stuffed with crab, shrimp & ricotta, with your choice of marinara or Alfredo sauce (or a blend of the two which is what I requested), then baked off. Such a remarkably good dish. I highly recommend visiting here if you’re ever in Southern Maryland. One of my favorites for sure in the area and I’ve been to many of them over the years.

New Orleans by Myra

Excellent “food truck” jambalaya from Myra! I particularly appreciated all the chunks of crawfish throughout. It was a bitter cold day at Pax River but this delicious food purveyor in a small trailer outside just warmed me from the inside out.

Ruddy Duck Brewery & Grill

Quick trip to southern Maryland (back in February) for a couple days! That could only mean one thing for me – seafood. Most notably, crab! That would be with a C not a K. I’m at Ruddy Duck in Solomon’s, MD. I stop here every time I’m in the area. Outstanding crab cake dinner made with fresh, never frozen jumbo lump crab.

Chaps Pit Beef

While in Maryland, Lady FoodObs visited yet another Baltimore institution, Chaps Pit Beef! Featured on numerous TV food shows, including Diners, Drive-in’s & Dives. I definitely need to join her on that next trip!

Lee’s Pint & Shell

On a recent trip to Maryland, Lady FoodObs had the pleasure of visiting a Baltimore institution, Lee’s Pint & Shell! Here’s a beautiful order of Chesapeake Roasted Oysters and a tasty looking double cheeseburger. I’m pretty sure I know which one she ordered.
