Miguel’s Cocina

(Visited November 29, 2019) Excellent lunch special at Miguel’s in 4S Ranch! Delicious chicken flautas, hot & crispy. There’s two of them, but cut to look like four. They were beautifully presented nonetheless. Topped with shredded lettuce, Pico de gallo, shredded cheese and a daub of guacamole. The lunch special also included a cup of their outstanding albondigas soup. (Mexican meatball). One of the best you’ll find anywhere.

La Cocina

If there was ever a “comfort food” from any of our local taco shops, it would have to be this outstanding albondigas from La Cocina! The perfect dish during these cool fall and winter months.

Nuevo Grill & Cantina

Outstanding chicken tortilla soup with such a stunning presentation at Nuevo Grill in Ramona, CA.

Panera Bread

Decent broccoli cheddar soup and an outstanding fresh baguette at Panera Bread in Coronado.

Way Point Saloon

Surprisingly good clam chowder at Way Point Saloon! Loved the crispy, crumbled bacon on top. Very thick, hearty and lots of tender clams.

Olive Garden

Two of my favorite things at Olive Garden!  Lasagna Classico and Zuppa Toscana.

Olive Garden

Some of my favorite dishes at OG include their new appetizer, Spicy Calamari.  The Spicy calamari is lightly breaded and fried with cherry pepper slices and red pepper flakes. Served with a parmesan-peppercorn sauce and marinara.  Both really good dipping sauces.  The calamari is tender and meaty without tasting like rubber bands.

I’m not a big soup person, but the Zuppa Toscana is a meal in itself!  It’s made with spicy Italian sausage, fresh kale and russet potatoes in a creamy broth.  Best when ordered at lunch or as part of their bottomless soup and salad!
