On a quick two day road trip to Jerome, AZ! We stopped in Yuma for a quick bite. I dearly adore these tasty ham & cheese croissant sandwich things at Starbucks.
Recently I tried the new Spicy Chorizo, Monterey Jack & Egg Breakfast Sandwich at Starbucks. I know it looks dreadful, but it was actually pretty tasty. It was not the traditional “loose” type chorizo you get at taco shops but more of a cohesive patty. Almost like sausage, but it had a decidedly distinct chorizo flavor. The only problem was the stone-baked potato bread it’s all served on. I think it was cooked too long, because it was very tough and hard to bite through in places. Wish the tater bread had a softer, chewier consistency.
Back to Starbucks to try another of their “Evenings” food items. This time a chicken sausage flatbread thing. It’s layered with chicken sausage, oven roasted maters, diced cherry peppers, mushrooms, etc. it was tasty, but I’m not gonna sugarcoat it! I’d have been happier with a $5 Hot & Ready from Little Caesars.
Starbucks “Evenings” has finally come to Ramona! Recently they had their inaugural evening that features a thoughtful selection of wine and craft beer alongside a menu of “small plate” specialties. Starbucks has been slowly rolling out this concept over the last 5 years at select stores. Come in after 4pm for beer & wine so you can go completely full circle with your stimulants/depressants at the same place.
I tried the Truffle Mac & Cheese for $5.95. Macaroni pasta in a creamy truffle fondue with herbed parmesan breadcrumbs. Came out better than expected. I would definitely get this again. Portion was just right if you happened to have had a big, late lunch.
Also tried the Chicken Skewers for $4.95. Marinated chicken breast coated with parmesan and panko breadcrumbs, served with a mustard dipping sauce. Fairly tasty but quite a bit more institutional tasting than the mac.
It was kind of a trip walking into Starbucks tonight and being offered a wine tasting.
These new La Boulange breakfast sandwich things at the Bux are outstanding! Ham and melted Swiss on a fresh croissant roll, all heated up. I could probably eat these things everyday. Probably a good thing I don’t!
